What is a reasonable price for a decent comfort bike?

i want to learn how to bike and was wondering how much a decent bike costs? i'd only be riding this for comfort around my neighborhood. maybe i'll start doing it for fitness when i become a skilled bicyclist. but, anyways, what is a reasonable price for such a bike?

i've shopped around and asked people. i've been told that i shouldn't go to stores like Target and Wal-Mart because they have bad quality bikes, and that i'd should stick to a bike shop. but i've also heard opposite opinions. Any suggestions for new biker?

also, any recommendations on stores i should go to?

The primary reason to go to a bike shop is fit, especially for a newbie. Humans have relatively little horsepower to work with, so you can't afford to waste it on bad aerodynamics and leverage. Even on a cheap bike, proper dimensions and setup can make a world of difference. The guys at any decent bike shop know this.

I can't tell you what bike to buy, because my answer would make no sense to you. My perspective is that of a racer, and someone that puts more miles on his bikes than his car.

That said, my everyday bike is an inexpensive mountain bike. You could probably get something equivalent for $600 or so. I got it for a lot less because I was shopping closeouts and knew exactly what I was looking for. No, I can't give you that menu of things to look for, because they almost certainly don't apply to your situation. As a beginner, you would probably find it uncomfortable and impossible to ride in its current configuration.

That's the long way around of saying go to a bike shop, tell the guy what you want it for, let him help you. Be prepared to drop a few hundred dollars, and make sure he spends some time running you around the parking lot (or with the bike up on a trainer) to get all the adjustments right.

If you happen to fall in love with cycling and move on to more and better machines later on, so much the better. The money you spent on this one will be long forgotten.

Target? Walmart? I usually have a junk bike like that in the garage for running errands, because I don't have to bother locking it up. If someone steals it, or I snap the frame climbing the hill to town, I'll just find another one on garbage day.

I recently bought a "comfort" bike, with shocks and a comfy seat. It was about $250, and worth every penny.

I recommend a bike shop, and one that has good word of mouth. You could look up Yelp for your city and look at reviews of shops in your area.

you should spend at least 拢200+ for a good quality comfort bike if you go cheaper all you will get is a cheap bike and defiantly go to a proper bike shop. you will get the bike assembled an set up to ride rather then going to places like tesco, Argos. where you will get it in a box an have to assemble it yourself or pay a proper bike shop to build it for you.
