Bought a motorcycle out of state and they did not give me a 30 day tag? How do i drive it to the tag place?

i live in kansas. i was not given a temporary tag when i bought the bike brand new. i need to get it to my tag place to get a temporary tag for it, only problem is i have to ride the bike there because A) its my only source of transportation and B) they require the bike to be there anyways since it was bought out of state and must be inspected. Anyone know the rules for kansas? do i just show them the title and date or purchase/reciept and let them know im headed to the tag shop now and hope that they are understanding if i get pulled over or what? thanks!

you will not have any temp plate if you buy from an individual person instead of a dealer....

just "ride" it there....if you get pull over tell him your case if the cop is a ****** and give you a ticket you can take it to court and get it dismissed ... make sure when you get your tag...save that dated receipt!!! =)

be safe riding~

yeah, if you get pulled as long as you have your insurance and the bill of sale and title with you you'll be fine.

Nate is right, you'll be fine with the title and bill of sale, provided it's dated less than 30 days ago. If not, there may be a small penalty when you pay tax and registration fees, but not too bad. And like he said, don't forget proof of insurance, just in case.

Congrats on the new ride.

I would ask your friend to drive you to dmv or take taxi to avoid any law enforcement problem.

As long as you drive sensible, you should be fine. Like all the others have already said, with a valid license, bill of sale, and insurance, you should be fine. Just take it easy so no cops would have any other reason to pull you anyway. You know some cops became cops because they were punks in high school and are just looking for a way to bully people to make up for it (LOL). All I'm saying is don't draw attention to yourself. Take the back roads.

the tag place. thats called the dmv. call your local dmv and ask them what you should do.
