My motorcycle won't start? |
Um, I bought a 1982 Honda CB900F for 100 bucks, great deal I've already had people asking to buy it from me. Thing is I don't want to sell it, I want to ride it. and how much would a diagnosis cost? If the bike was sitting it might have rusted the piston to the cylinder, Try to poor alittle bit of oil in the spark plug holes ( 2 cycle oil would be best ) remember alittle bit of oil. The idea is that the oil will seep between the piston and cylinder some and loosen it up. Now after it sits for a few minutes with some oil in there try to kick it over. Sounds to me like the engine is seized (which explains why you got it for $100). How long since it was running? rust may have got to the cyls or it may have locked up when it was being ridden .might ask the people you bought it from if they know Your engine could be seized, to start with get someone to push you on it in 1st with the clutch in get up to speed and let the clutch out hopefully it will free it up. If not you will have to use the workshop manual and take the thing apart. you should try and pop start it like the guy above said, by pushing it and popping the clutch. also start with some fresh gas and new plugs. you could have a shop take a look for like $30US i'd guess You said you are new to motorcycles. Do you know there is and engine kill switch on the handlebar near the starter switch? |
