Shall I change my bike?

I have a problem. I am ridding a Specialized Rockhoper at the minute, but I've got an eye on a Santa Cruz Heckler and I do not know what to do. One thing I can say for sure: I do not want to sell my Rockhoper (there is nothing wrong with it, it simply is such a sweet thing to ride), but I want more (and this is where the Heckler comes in). I do not even have a car, but I do change the bike I ride every year. At first I was being put off by the Hecler's only pivotal point (massive swingarms bearings), but I have been reading the reviews and it seems to be such a good bike. I am after the American AM X9 complete kit (the most expensive one of its kind) and want to have either a Fox RP 32 or a Cane Creek double barrel rear shock put in. I have already spoken with one of the shop assistants I am going to buy my bike from, and this isn't even going to set me back two grand (the bike is 拢1500 + 拢150 on tax). Cheap is it not? This kit would've cost me 拢3000 in the UK. What shall I do?

Bobbyman: I simply cannot believe it. How could this possibly be? Do you mean less than 20 pounds? This is quite impressive and I would've bought this bike in case I wasn't ridding the bike I do, which is a hard tail. I know the Heckler is a 30 pounder (my kit is 28.78lbs though), but I want full suspension. However, I must say you are making a good deal of sense here, for this seems to be a really good bike for the money. $1500 is more or less how much I did pay for my Rockhopper, but this kit (mostly XTR components and comes with Avid Juicy Carbons) is certainly good for what you pay for. I do not like the headset that much though, but this is the only thing I'd say against it (not saying from a functional point of view but from an aesthetic one). I want a Hecler though because, as you said. $1500 is just about the right price for a Hecler (same kit is worth 拢3000 in the UK, where I live) and this is a do-it-all wonder bike...

Santa Cruz bicycles are GREAT!! The only problem is, what you pay for is not what you get. It is like an iPod, apple has built up a reputation and marked up there stuff by 300%. If you have the cash go with the santa cruz, but if you are looking for one of the best bikes I have seen, and want to save some cash, go with this one: http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/moto...
It is the first 20 pound racer for under $3,000. A lighter bike will not make you a better rider, but it will encourage you to ride more, and help you on those long hills.

I live in the us, but it looks like 1500 is good for a hecler.
Good luck!!!

Keep ur old bike as a preserve and buy a new one which is equivelant to the old one. why because old is always gold.

well yes then if its rubbish

George, Buy the new bike. Enjoy both bikes. It is the only common sense choice available.

I have 5 bikes and am looking at the 6th. I can't believe a man with your passion for riding only has one bike at this time. Buy the bike!

buy the heckler, keep the rockhopper and live happily ever after.

yah, buy both bikes buddy; and get a third!

There is nothing wrong having another bike, especially a Santa Cruz bike. Check with Colorado Cyclist if they can ship it to UK, it's alot cheaper than UK.
