I have an old school GT PERFORMER and i've ruied the back axel ...? |
how much is a reasonable charge for a bike shop to replace the axel for me? i know the axel is prolly around 20 bux, but what do you think? btw: i cant do this myself, i have no tools, some prick stole them. The AXLE is generally pretty cheap- maybe $5 or so, BUT the labor will probably be closer to $20. Depending on how long you rode the bike with a bent axle may mean you might need new bearings and cones which will increase the cost of parts a little, but the labor should be about the same. just check around a local dump they have bikes left there or thrown away all the time, it will cost you nothing but time searching You might be able to get the rear hub rebuilt. Check with a bike shop to see if that is possible with the one you have. Prices will vary because of the parts needed. If you need to replace the hub, they start at about $80, and labor shouldn't be any more than $20. |
