How do I store my foldaway bike on our tiny balcony? |
Hi, I need to store my bike somewhere in our flat, and having it somehow hanging OUTSIDE of the balcony (which is made of metal bars) would be ideal 鈥?does anyone know if I could do this? The balcony is too small for it to be stored "inside" it... Are there any clever hooks etc that I could get?? Many thanks!!! Unless you have 365 days a year with perfect sunshine weather, there's no humidty or excessive moisture in the air, and no real changes in temperature (hottest day temp - coldest night temp < 20 F or 10C), simply leaving the bike exposed to the elements is asking for trouble. You'd do much better to use a wall-mount system (like the "Skyhook" or "Wheelgrip" shown in the link) somewhere inside the apartment. You might need to check with the landlord - putting up something like that where it screws into the structure might be unwanted. If that is the case, try the simply 'stand' approach (like the "Tree" shown in the link). Check the second link - it has a product called the "Ceiling Rack" that's a simple pulley system that will lift your bike overhead and out of the way. Hang it from the ceiling using standard J-hooks that screw into the ceiling or get a piece of chain with a snaphook for support. Add some bungee cords to keep it from banging around in the wind. or hang off the railings and secure with a lock with a cable set up |
