What is the best way to store a bike in a small place? Vertical by a hook? Will that mess up the bike? |
How do I hang a bike by a hook without messing it up? if you have cash to spend, why not get those bike stands by minoura, it holds three bike on a pole ! looks into it.. its worth it. but if cash is the issue then the hook works just fine! i would use two hooks and hang up on the top tube making it look like a picture. remember to wrap up the hook if you are going to hook it up on you top tube, it will scratch your bike.. other than that .. CHEERS. Hooks are a great way to store a bike especially if you are living in tight quarters. I can't see how it can significantly screw up your bike unless you're hanging off it all the time. One hook is good but I prefer using two hooks and hanging it upside down. Hooks are fine, hang it by the rims, won't hurt it at all. a simple large hook you can buy at a dollar store will work if you want to save money. But look at these websites for more options. http://www.nashbar.com/results.cfm?subca... http://www.performancebike.com/shop/sub_... subcategory_id=6600 http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref... http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref... Hanging your bike will do nothing to it. If you have a suspension fork on the front of your bike, they say storing it upside down keeps the seals moist. A better way of storing your bike or bikes is to buy a bike stand, I have two road bikes an MTB and a Recumbent on mine and they work great. Using a vertical hook is a good way to store a bike, but never under any circumstance hang your bike by the front wheel, it can screw up the front end of the bike. Not much I can add, but the yeah, the rims are more than strong enough to support a bike's weight. Think of it like this...the rims have to support your weight as well as the bike's at the same time as you are travelling (add momentum in there!). Hanging from a hook is nothing. |
