What is the best bike brand under $200 with shipping and handing(or in a store)? Don't buy your bike from Walmart/Kmart/Costco!!! I made the mistake of buying a Roadmaster bike from Walmart and the brakes failed and I accelerated downhill out of control. Luckily, I managed to slow down and not get hurt. The bikes from the discount stores are assembled sloppily and are made with cheap parts. I wasted $60 on my Walmart bike, and I only rode it 100 miles. I could have paid less by just driving. You will end up paying more buying a new bike about every year than buying a decent bike from a bike shop that will last for years, and the bike will pay for itself in gas or bus fare savings. Look for used bikes at your bike shop, or increase your budget to $300 and you can find many entry level bikes that will last for years. The difference between a $280 mountain bike and a $700 road bike is just a few mph and comfort. No matter what bike you buy (even if it's a cheap Wal mart bike), someone will steal it if it is not locked. Buy a good U lock for around $40 to discourage thieves. Purchase your bike at Costco for great value and price. I would look at used bikes. Both of my mountain bikes are used and I've had them both for 10 years. You can get a better quality bike for less money that way. Also you didn't specify what type of bike you are looking for. Look for a used bike, in the paper or online. Even when bikes are onsale $200 won't get you very much. A Costco bike will work as long as you riding down hill been there done that! Look for a used bike. I scored a $1400 Cannondale for $360 on ebay. Figure on a used $600 bike for $200 (if you're lucky). Whatever you do, make sure the bike fits you or you're just wasting $200. Bike fit info: http://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit/... You can't get a quality bike for under $250, and that would be on sale, and a mountain bike. A nice road bike will be no less than $600+. May want to look at used bikes on ebay. But KNOW what you're buying FIRST ! Take the time to research what you want. And AVOID ANYTHING from Walmart / K-Mart / Target and any other dime store JUNK ! |
