How high will insurance be for the bike? |
Well im planing on getting a bike soon and it will be a cbr 600 nothing above 600. Now ive ridden bikes before but not much just around the block. Also im 17 years old and im about 6"2 and the bike would primarily be used for work and back home. Now i would take the bike class or what ever its called and the bike would be stored in a garage. So im just wondering how much would insurance be in 1) full 2)lowest possible. Yeah, not Geico. They sucker you in, then hike your rates when you have an incident (or drop you). Full coverage on a sportbike is big $$. You know what you want, so call around. My BMW R1100S is $1500 a year. Ouch. My K1200RS (much more power, more $$, more sport tour, less sport) was only $600 a year. I'm not telling you to get a different bike, but your pocketbook may. :) cheap. Very cheap. Usually under $100, but not everything is covered like cars. For example, If you get into accident, more than likely that you would be dead. So they usually don't charge much for bodily injury. Cannot do much damage with bike so I don't think they would even offer liability. Most accidents happen close to home, but you could get a second full time job and sent it all to the insurance company and get some kind of insurance. I'll be surprised if any one will write it for you for less that $4000 a year. Sportbikes and 17 yo's is not an insurers dream come true. bike insurance is less than $100 a year but i highly recommend adding a medical provision to it it will protect you from excessive hospital bills charged to you if you happened to get injured by someone that hits you and does not have insurance.this way you can protect yourself got hit by an uninsured driver right on my danged right knee and broke the paetella bone and it costs me $20K for hospital bills but lucky for me, I had an medical provision on my bike insurance so they paid for the whole thing --and my brother (who got a sports bike) told me what his insurance cost him now it is 98 bucks and he said it is cheaper than his truck insurance they want him to pay 2K every 6 months he said NO WAY I am not going to pay that!! (ps he had an accident with a company truck few months ago is the main reason his truck insurance went way up) 17 full coverage on a sportbike at least 50% of book value of the bike they will give you a discount because your tall but you will still be looking at 3000+ for your coverage if you could chew your own toenails then it would be a lot less |
