Is it possible to generaate power using Bike Dynamo? |
Can i generate power using Bike dynamo and what things do i need to maintain stability and to store power. Yes, it's possible. The output of the bike dynamo would be very small. To maintain power, you need to have the rotor of the dynamo constantly turning. So there are three common ways to do this: (1) Cycle forever (fitter days ahead). (2) Have a propeller connected to it, so that the wind can operate it. Of course, this will only work if the wind is constantly blowing and is powerful enough. (3) Have it connected to a water system. So that the flow of the water will cause the system to turn. When I was younger I had a dynamo on my bike. It powered up the front and back lights of the bike. They were possibly two 12 watt bulbs (luminaries). you certainly could. have you ever seen the hand-crank flashlights? same concept. though i dont know the specifics, sorry. this would probably be a good question for the engineering section. A bike dynamo is just a generator, so if by power you mean electricity, then yes it is possible to convert mechanical energy (your spinning bike wheel) to elecctricity, thus "generating power". I am not sure what you mean by "maintain stability", but your dynamo could conceivably generate either AC or DC current. If it generates DC current then you could simply attach the terminals of the generator to the proper battery terminals (on the proper type of battery) and it should charge up. If your dynamo outputs AC then you would first need to pass the output current through a simple circuit known as an "inverter" which converts the usually alternating AC polarity into a signal with constant polarity. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST DOING ANYTHING INVOLVING BATTERIES OR ELECTRICITY. For your own safety, of course. Naturally, not all batteries are rechargeable in this manner. Car batteries of the Lead/Acid variety, however, conceivably would work. You would have to get the polarity right and there would have to be less charge in the battery than would be necessary to short out your dynamo, SO DON'T PLAY WITH CAR BATTERIES. |
