How should I lock up a bike with quick release tires?

I have a Trek Ukon with an 18in frame and quick release tires.. Is there any good way to lock these up infront of a busy store like Target or just to lock it up inside of my work... while not getting my tires stolen?

I was thinking a long enough bike cable that I can put each end through each tire and then through the frame.. tightly locking it to a post.. Anywhere I can get strong bike lock that long?

Most bike locks are long enough to fit through the frame and both wheels if you remove the front wheel and put it next to the rear. You shouldn't have to remove the rear. Even U-locks will work like this. I prefer U-locks, I just find them easier to fumble with.

See if your boss will let you keep the bike inside. There may be a storeroom or hallway they will let you leave it, unless you don't trust your co-workers.
take the rear wheel and put it next 2 the front. put the cable Thu both tires n frames. take with u anything else that could b stolen, seat.
I've never had to worry about that but, being the VERY AVID bicyclist I've been over a 20 year period, I'd quickly remind you that you can take your front wheel off and run a chain through it and through your down tube area and then through your back wheel still attached. You may want something to protect the bottom of your front forks as you have taken the front wheel off which can be easy to rig or find at a good bicycle store, or, if you can chain your front end in an elevated position, you won't have to worry about it. Enjoy. Have fun. God Bless you.
Go to www.sfbike.org for best tips on locking your bike securely. Basically use a U-lock to lock your back wheel and frame to an object and loop a cable around your front tire and secure to the u-lock... more details at the site.
Use a good U-type lock to secure the back of bike along with the rear wheel to a good post, then use a good heavy cable to secure front wheel, seat and frame again through the pole with it's own lock. This way no removing wheel or seats and the bike is secured with two methods of locks.
