Will an exercise bike tone up my bottom?

I have just bought an exercise bike and am aiming to do 30 mins on it one day then 1hour the next. So far Im finding it good, but Ive only had it a week. I was just wondering if this kind of exercise will tone my bottom and if so, does it do as good a job as a real bike? Also I have quite large legs (its where much of my weight is stored) and I really do not want them to get bigger, I dont use high tension, just more peddling. Will my legs get huge?

Hi,
No the ex bike will not help your rear, as a Thai Boxer for 11 years I really think you should cut out the equipment and go back to basics ie: sit ups crunches,running,skipping,lung... etc.x
Best way is running. Bikes are not as effective
Ya usually but not always... it depends on how hard or far your peddling
Unfortunately, you cannot target the area you wish to burn fat in. You need to drop your overall body fat% to see results in particular areas. A stationary bike is a good way to burn calories though. You won't build any muscle using the bike unless you are using a high amount of resistance on consistant basis
I think you should visit www.healthalife.com for information on weight loss and tonning up. Its really packed with lots of resources. You could even eat your favourite food and still loose weight.
Moving the saddle further back will involve more gluteal muscle in the cycling action.

It will help tone your bum and is certainly better than sitting on your bum doing nothing.

:o)
Cyclist.
