Bike maintanence and Buying Parts? |
I have two bikes questions I need help with: Keep in mind I have a 21 speed Jeep mountain bike that is four or so years old. 1. Do you know any online tutorials for changing bike parts? I need to learn stuff, like changing cables, fixing breaks (Like taking them apart and putting them back together.) and other kinds of general stuff. 2. Do you know any good online stores, all the stores around me are higher end, and all I want is a new shifting cable, a seat, pedals and handlebar grips. Two websites that have a lot of repair information are www.sheldonbrown.com and www.parktool.com/repair. www.performancebike.com, www.nashbar.com, www.pricepoint.com are all good on-line retailers. There are plenty more, but these are some of the larger ones. Sorry, but I believe Jeep bikes are low end bikes like those from Walmart, Target, K-Mart, Toy's R Us...For the most part, the are'nt worth fixing, and not worth upgrading. bikenashbar.com is a good online store. So is Performance. I like nashbar myself. They have just about everything you'll need to work on a bike. And they don't sell junk. You can try Walmart for cheap stuff if you want. Sheldon's site is my favorite, but Jim Langley also has good stuff: http://www.jimlangley.net/wrench/wrench.... I found this ebay guide on Bicycles very interesting. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2... |
