I am a twelve year old i am about 5ft3 140 lbs I am searching for my first dirt bike any suggestions? |
I am still growing a bike that would fit now and when i grow would be nice also does anyone know any websites or stores in washington d.c. or near where i can get a used or new dirtbike? Hey biker buddy I got my son a Yamaha TTR 125 and he loves it, there cheap for one that is a couple years old, I paid 1,000$ for his and it is a 2003 with really low hours, so you can get one for even cheaper if you look in the cycle trader pick it up at your local store, or go online to cycletrader.com, But you will love the reliability and handling of the TTR, then you can move up to the YZ class. Any hoo good riding to you, live free and ride fast............ My first bike was a Honda XL 125. It served me well for about 6 years. I got it when I was 15. I learned alot about how the basics of a dirt bike worked and alot about engines because it was a 4 stroke. I highly suggest you get a 4 stroke bike to start. The dont wind up as fast as a 2 stroke but they are still very very fun. yamaha ttr125e, its a four stoke with electric and kick start, i weigh over 200 lbs and it has enough power to pull me around in a wheelie, suspension doesn't like it though, so it a good bike to learn on 125 kawasaki My youngest son is 15 and just got his first dirt bike. A CRF 230 Honda. He's about 5' 8" and approx. 180 lbs. He loves it! My grandson has a Honda CR 150R. He's about 5' 3" and maybe 130 lbs. but he competes a little. And he has had three bikes from an 80 when he was about 7 or 8 to the 150 he has now. I think you might have a pretty good growth spurt coming up so keep that in mind. I agree that the four stroke is a better bike for learning on. Less likely to jump out from under you. But as far as engine size, you don't have to use it just because you have it. I'm assuming you'll be feeling the bike out at first when you get it, taking it easy. As for shopping for one you could find local dealers in your area, the classified adds in your and neighboring papers and you might try a magazines you could find in store and AM/PM type gas stations called a Cycle Trader. Whatever bike you decide on I'm sure you'll enjoy. Good luck and have fun Get a yz85 |
