'06 Gary Fisher Marlin Bike?

I found a new one for only $275! Should I call the store and have the hold it or should I go with a $550 Marlin GS (women's specific instead? If I get the Marlin, would I get the same size as was recommended when I looked at the Marlin GS? The store is quite a drive and I would have to call ahead to make sure they had the size I want.

Be Sure it is new - it must be an '05 or something, I can't see why they would be selling it SOOOO CHEAP!

As for the GS and WSD bikes, I see more women who are skeptics just because they have never heard of it. I give them the Tradition to test ride, then the GS or WSD, and then the Traditional again, and they become believers! Short reach levers, custom saddle and toptube length, and the different headtube angly all go together to make this bike shorter but, more stable to ride. Source(s): Bike Shop Manager
Make sure that the women's version fits you. Women's bikes are generally shorter in the tob tube than men's bikes. This is great if you are built that way. But I know a lot of women who have to ride conventional bikes.

Regarding the price...find out why it's $275. I suspect it is last years model. Margins on new bikes are not as much as you might think. If a bike is 550 new, the shop probably paid about 400. I'd be surprised if the shop would lose money on a current model year bike.
