Is there a special type of paint for bmx bikes? |
their paint is hard to take off.. what are the coats of paint being used? is there a store where i can buy that paint? if so where? is there a website that can teach me how to paint my bike? is there a color protector that is sprayed on and it protects the color? Powdercoating is hardest to remove and is a harder paint. Powdercoaters and spray painters would do that job for you. You can use any paint on a bike. Its best if you use a spray tin or spray gear. Generally you strip your frame by sanding or sandblasting it, you might have to use paint stripper in the hard to get at places. You would dust the frame off, then undercoat it, let that dry, then give it alight snd to get out the imperfections, then maybe some more under coat. Let that dry. Then you can put a coat of colour on. Let that dry. Maybe lightly sand that to get out imperfections. Dust it off. Then give it another coat or two. Letting it dry between coats. You can then put a coat or two of clear lacquer over it if you like. You have to use either all enamel paint or all waterbased paint. You can't combine them as it would cause your paint to crazy crack. We have painted our bikes in car paint with some rather nice results. Stay away from silver paint or 'chrome' paint. As soon as you touch it, it marks. |
