LA for pedestrians and bikes? |
I am moving to SoCal this summer. I'm ok driving for work and the big things, but otherwise I prefer to pound pavement- have a local park to take my daughter, corner grocery store, cafe, and a few neighborhood bars. And, even better -- if the daughter is not in tow-- hop on my bike for running errands. SO where in LA County would I find the best areas for this? well Long beach has a nice area and lots of bike paths even their buses have bike racks (which can hold 3 bikes) even on weekends their beach bike path isnt that crowded other area would be Redono Beach/Hermosa beach but you have to walk your bike sometimes in that area) Culver City is great. I live there and you can walk to the post office, many banks, downtown, theatres, parks, stores, etc. Very pedestrian friendly. Another good choice would be Venice. If you want to be centrally located, I'd suggest West Hollywood. It's between Beverly Hills & Hollywood and very pedestrian friendly. They even have bike routes and there is a bike lane on Santa Monica Boulevard. www.weho.org |
