Do I need to lose weight?

I just turned 16 yesterday, and I'm 5'6", medium boned, and 168 pounds. my friends look at me and think i look like i'm 120 pounds, and that I'm skinny. i look okay in a jeans and t-shirt, even flat stomached, but forget bathing suits and dress clothes, those make me look really big. I'm athletic (catcher in softball), and i don't know if my big thighs are muscles from catching, or fat from eating. i have tummy fat that looks good if i suck in, and overall happy with myself, but i hate shopping with my friends because they are like size 4 and I'm a 13 (jeans), thanks to my big butt. i usually ride my bike to the library (a mile away) every day, and to the store (when needed), and games/practices (spring/fall, 3x a week), and to McDonalds (if and when i get a job there). and i like to dance with my friends, jump rope (i do that A LOT), and lately I've been doing push-ups, and sit-ups. so overall i'm pretty active, but do i need to lose weight? and if yes, how can i achieve this?

It sounds like you have both fat AND muscle. If you want to feel better about how you look in things like bathing-suits, I would say just cut back on food. Specifically soda and sweets and eat just a little less regular food than normal. and simple exercise like walking for an hour on days when you don't play sports. That way you can burn some fat, but keep the muscle.
No! Definatley not! Just be happy with who you are.
most important thing is to know you're beautful the way you are, whats more important than looks is longevity and your life. plan on a healthy diet and keep being active, that will naturally have your body just the way its suppose to be. who cares what they think, you're number 1!
if u got 2 chins and lovve handles, get lipo.
if not, ur beautiful, honey!
If your happy with your body and feel good then you don't need to change a thing but if you dread going shopping with your friends and avoid bathing suits and dresses you should continue to cut back on dessert and increase the good foods, you should speak to a nutritionist or even your doctor about making a healthy meal plan and designing a regular excersize routine (it is best to discuss excersize with your doctor to avoid straining any muscles or over-working your body).
You sound like you look great. There are so many skinny girls out there and it's tempting to be that skinny too. I'm sure you look fine, but the key to losing weight is 2 things. Exercise and not eating as many calories. You need to exercise consistently. If you exercise now and then, it's not going to help. Maybe you could jump rope for at least 10 minutes every day and make sure you ride your bike for at least 10 minutes every day and maybe go on a walk a few times a week. DON'T eat fast food. It'll be hard if you get a job at McD's but try not to eat it. Don't eat any fast food. Drink only diet sodas and try not to eat anything fried. You have to cut back on the calories. Good luck.
if you think you need to lose just a little bit to tone your body, sure... but don't go over the edge and lose so much it affects your health.
