Math questions for people who have time?

Well here they are

Carlos Martin received a statement from his bank showing a balance of $56.75 as of march 15th. His checkbook shows a balance of $87.37 as of March 20. The bank returned all the cancelled checks but two. One check was for $5.00 and the other was for $13.25. How much did carlos deposit in his account between March 15 and MArch 20?

Glenn Andrews recently bought a new motorbike for $3950. If he had to pay 6 percent sales tax on the bike, what was the total cost of the bike?

Alice Correa bought thre yards of cloth to make a dress. The cloth to make a dress. The cloth was on sale for $1.93 per yard. How much did alice pay for the cloth if the sales tax was 5 percent?

Juan Ramirez sells suits in a major store on weekends. He earns a commision of 5 percent on the first ten suits and if he selld more than ten he earns an additional 3 percent on the additional suits. Last weekend juan sold thirteen $250 suits. What was the commision?

#1
(87.37-56.75) + (5.00+13.25) = $48.87

#2
$3950 + ($3950*.06) = $4187

#3
(1.93*3)(.05) + (1.93*3) = 6.0795 ~ $6.08

#4
(250*15) + (250*10)(.05) + (250*5)(.08) = $3975
1) Let x be the deposit he did.
The change of balance = in - out
87.37 - 56.75 = x - (13.25 + 5)
x = $48.87
2) 3950(1 + 6%) = $4,187
3) 3(1.93)(1+5%) = $6.08
4) 250[10(5%)+3(8%)] = $185.00
1) The bank's balance minus the two checks, plus his cash deposit equals the $87.37 so that amount minus the others equals his cash deposit: $87.37 - ($56.75 - $5.00 - $13.25) = $87.37 - $38.50 = $48.87.

2) $3,950 + 6% * $3,950 = $4,187

3) 3 yards of cloth * $1.93 per yard + 5% of whatever that comes to is: (3 * $1.93) * 1.05 = $6.08 ($6.0795 but every state makes you round up hence the $6.08).

4) Ten suits * 5% of $250 plus (thirteen suits minus those ten suits) * 3% of $250 = (10 * $12.50) + (3 * $7.50) = $125.00 + $22.50 = $147.50. If I mis-read that and he gets the 5% plus 3% more on those three extra suits, then add the 5% for the three extra suits to that: $147.50 + 3 * $12.50 = $147.50 + $37.50 = $185.00.
