I am looking for a good as in reliable, efficient, lightweight bike. I want something under $500. I think a hybrid/ commuter bike maybe with some mountain qualities in terms of resiliant tires and maneuverability, but I want to feel like I am getting the most out of ever peddle/ stride. The feedback I have gotten at stores is btw the muirwoods and tradewind. I have only tested the muirwoods so far. Has anyone owned either for some time and revealed the bugs and benefits?
Both of those bikes are well equipped and well suited for your described use, but the K2 has a very slight edge for the money insofar as their attention to detail and their customer service is better.
It is something you will probably not be privy to, but warranty claims are often covered in red tape. K2 seems to have their stuff in hand and it reduces grief for the dealer if there is a problem.
