How many of you libs Really Walk the walk!? |
Do you give up extra money at tax time? do you ride a bike to work ? do you forgo all the modern conviences like indoor plumbing and soap and prepared food and store bought clothes and fire? how do true enviro lefties live? ( i guess if any where living right they would not be able to access this) I actually give up about 10% of my annual income for charity work, and I do not own a car. I have lived for months without indoor plumbing, but choose not to do so now. Even when I am on my extended backpacking trips, I wash every day with soap. Believe it or not, I also know about toothpaste, deodorant, and nail polish! I mostly buy high quality used clothing and conveniences, but occasionally treat myself to something new and silky and luxurious. I avoid pre-packaged food as my stomach cannot tolerate the preservatives- thanks for asking such a personal question. It's actually cheaper to buy food in bulk, and I am a very good cook who can create gourmet meals for a fraction of the restaurant cost. My sauces, marinades, salsas, and seasonings tend to be far better than what you buy in a jar- ask anyone who ever tried my mango glazed roasted chicken with lime, pepper and garlic marinade. As for fire- I would bet that I can make a fire under conditions where you would have given up long before getting a spark to ignite. I am educated, articulate, and get invited to speak at international professional conferences. I travel by foot, public transit, car pool, taxi, car, and plane; as the situation requires. I lead a corporate ethics committtee. I spend half of my vacation time using my work skills to help people living in poverty determine their own futures. Oh yeah, and I'm a registered Independent. Do you consider me a liberal? What about you- have you refinanced your home to buy your flat screen tv? Do you secretly have an undocumented worker doing your laundry? Do you cheat on your taxes? Do you drive a Hummer? Don't judge me and I won't judge you, a-hole! Life is about choices- pure and simple. Go criticize something worth criticizing. Only fools and radicals want to revert to the Stone Age, and only fools and radicals think that anyone who wants to leave a smaller "footprint" is a dirty Hippie. What does any of that have to do with liberalism? uneducated, sarcastic question not even worth a real answer. What a far out scenario. Did you hear, John Travolta has any number of air planes. And uses them. No we have been thrown back to the buying of indulgences. It was outlawed in the church, should be outlawed in politics and life. Since when do Liberals live without "indoor plumbing and soap?" I think your question is more a reflection of the narrow mindedness of Conservatives than a real reflection on Liberals. none of them I don't know what I call myself on the political front...that's why I'm answering this. I vote for the person and what she/ he stands for at election times. I don't believe in straight ticket politics, though in the past I've done it as a requirement. In the sense that I vote for the person not the party, I'm a liberal. I couldn't live the way your explanation describes. Nothing against the Amish, I just don't want to try the lifestyle. Your description parallels their lifestyle as closely as anything I've seen recently. |
