Kawi KX60 2-Stroke Bogging out when choke is turned off...? |
This is a 2000 Kawasaki KX-60 with a 2-Stoke motor. The motor has low hours. It has been sitting for approximately 2-years. Before it was stored it ran perfectly. The problem i'm having is, when i start the bike with choke, it idles and runs fine - but when i turn off the choke the bike runs for about 2-3 seconds before bogging out. I figured it must be a dirty carb...so i completely cleaned the carb and jet/pilot jet (did it twice). Unfortunately, it didn't work...the bike is still doing the same thing. I'm not sure if the reeds would potentially cause something like this - i would say "No" because the bike is only affected by the choke, so that tells me its in the carb. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I agree, the carb is still dirty. Get some Yamaha carb cleaner (best stuff I've ever seen) completely disassemble the carb and allow the body and pieces to soak for a couple of days. Blow it dry with compressed air, reassemble and try it again. Make sure both carb clamps are tight, Maybe replace the fuel filter. SparkPlug ! Change it. ;) It still sounds like a carb problem,when you say you cleaned the carbs how did you do this? If the bike stands for a period of time a varnish can build up in the carbs(unless they were drained) it sounds to me that the pilot jets are still blocked.Take the jets out hold them up to the light and see if they are,if the bike was here I could help,sorry that's it .Good luck. hi, have you changed the fuel in the tank with two stoke fuel it goes off after couple of months and looses its volitility. just cleaning the carb doesn,t helo much.puttting the choke on increases the fuel load and thats why it helps to keep it running.see if this helps all the best philg. |
