Soliciting or just asking for money? |
so i was biking with my friends is a parking lot near my house. we were getting thirsty so we all checked our wallets and we all had money. my friend peter did not have enough and noone had spare change. he was only down by 10 cents. he decided to stand in front of a rite aid and he asked people if they could spare him a dime. after a few minutes the manager came out screaming and yelling saying " there is no solliciting at my store!" as we were leaving i was thinking, isnt soliciting trying to sell somehting? we are now banned form biking there. and all of this for a dime! does anyone else think that asking for 10 cents is not somehitng to get all worked up about? Your friend's actions meet a broader definition of soliciting -- i.e., persuading or entreating one to take a certain action. Business owners generally prohibit solicitation at their establishments because it can be off-putting for customers. Why don't you kids get jobs? HUH? Attorneygrrl is correct it is soliciting. And it may seem extreme but look at it from the managers view....it is private property and as we all know begging turns people away...when a person begs...customers go away. |
