A general question about gangster culture? |
today i was walking through a normally peaceful area when 10 or 15 young black kids began asking me what was in my bag and getting seiously aggressive, i stared at them for a moment and continued, the gang took this as an insult and began harrassing us with more aggression, accusation and anger than before, they began to shove me and try to trip me, they began making sexual remarks towards my friend who is a girl. One who was about my age (16) began trying to get me to fight and called me a pu-sy. all i could do was keep walking and try not to look scared. as we continued younger gangsters rode their bikes in front of us and put them sideways blocking the entire sidewalk, blocking other people and drawing attention from pedestrians in the busy street. continuing, the group grew more aggressive until finally we ducked into a shop. the store owner had to lock the doors and they left after a few minutes of banging on the windows. I am just wondering what causes people to do such things I blame 2 things for this behavior. 1. Bad parenting Children arent taught right from wrong anymore by their parents, nor do they fear the consequences of their actions! No one is punished anymore for crimes they commit! whether they are sent to juvenile or adult prisons, they get more entitlements than law abiding citizens! Break the law, go to prison, get free medical, free dental, free eye care, free schooling, free meals! why would any criminal fear the consequences of being caught? 2. Gangs and violence are the direct result of a Government created welfare state, making more and more people dependent on entitlements instead of being self reliant thus deteriorating morals, self worth, culture, and any chance at pursuing happiness! A modern day take on pack mentality. When a group of thugs gets together they feed of each others discontent and the young males (especially) strut and show their testoterone levels and try to establish their dominance in the pack by being the most aggressive and strongest. Supported by the pack they do tend to get carried away and with todays technology and weapons available the outcome can be deadly. Although today it seems the girls also are getting in on the action and doing a lot of the same things. The group of kids felt stronger because of their overwhelming numbers and the cover for individual bad behavior that the group provided. I believe that their anti-social behavior is related to the angst that they feel about not being accepted as being part of the mainstream of the society in which they live. The only culture that they respect and know is the sub-culture that they have created for themselves. The established, mainstream culture is not perceived by them to be relatable to their own life and living conditions. The only way that they believe that can fight back is to attack on the fringes and at the most vulnerable. Hopefully, they will someday embrace the concept that if they work within the mainstream, rather than outside it or on the fringes, they can quickly garner the respect and contentment that they are seeking. Still, nothing excuses their abhorrent behavior. |
