I dont understand why my BF said "now Im finally free!" after he sold his car?

Hes alwlays been spontanous thats why I fell in love with him. Well one day he just goes on a rampage yelling about how much he hates the oil companies. Then a couple hours he goes I will no longer be their slave. He cleans out his car and takes it to the lot and sells it!!!! We got into a big arguement because I said he was crazy. He then told me well I follow my beliefs. He work is 6 miles away! He runs there and back every day rain or shine. He walks to the grocery store and everywhere else. The funny thing is that without his car Ive never seen him so happy before. He is always in a good mood. Then with all the money that he is saving from not paying car insurances and taxes on his car he has been taking me out. Now Im actually glad that he sold his car. Weve been spending so much more time together walking and riding bikes. Its been about a month since he sold his car but Im still not sure what he meant after he sold his car that he was not a slave, he was free now!

Err, so your question is why he sold his car and saying he was free now?

Well from what I read i think he's mad at the oil companies for charging way to much money for gas, and he was sick of paying taxes and insurance for his car, so he sold it and is now living a happy life with a bigger wallet
Where is the question.
well i mean i can see how not having a car is 'freeing'. no paying for gas, insurance, car payments, routing maintenance, or accidents to worry about. it is kind of weird though that he was yelling about the oil companies or whatever. unless you think he's actually mentally unstable, i'd say that getting rid of his car was a great thing. i mean, he's getting more excersice now and is saving money that he isnt spending on a car. sounds good to me. hope that helps some :)
