Should a novice cyclist buy a bicycle from anyone other than a bike shop? fjw1952@yahoo.com?
You'll want to AVOID bikes from Walmart, K-Mart, Target, ect as they are JUNK as far as quality goes. Your best bet is a real bike shop. That's all they sell, and they should know what they'll selling. In my opinion, no. When you buy a bike from a bike shop, you're also getting the sales staff's knowledge and experience to help you decide what's best for you. You'll also be fitted properly so the ride is more comfortable. Most bike shops also offer a free 30 day tune-up for all new bikes purchased to adjust cables & brakes & to true up the wheels if they need it. They will also be there for you when you need other repairs & maintenance.
