Innertubes from Wallmart do the job to hold air . Remember that you get what you pay for . I think that in bikeshop you find better quality innertubes for good price . You are not rich enough to afford cheap innertubes or bike tires . Buy good one like Panaracer , Michelin , Continentall ....., I run Shwalbe Marathon Tires and Assama inner tubes , they is excellent for good price . Try Mountain Coop stores to save some money on Continental or Panaracer tires and inner tubes ....
the tubes that come with slime are made by slime, so if it is another brand name, it is a knockoff and probably of less quality

I assume you are talking about MTB or 26" tire tubes

most MTB tubes cost anywhere between 6 and 16 bucks, depending on whether they are thorn resistant or not
road tubes are 5 to 10 bucks
they are all about the same... sometimes you get a flat, sometimes you don't
if you want better protection on a MTB, get liners
The odd answer is yes and no. I've purchased food items from Walmart and found that the quality of the foods was somehow diminished; almost as though Walmart has a "give us the dregs" policy to ensure low pricing from suppliers. So, you might find some of the same brand names at Walmart as in bike shops, but the quality tends to be questionable.

It also depends on the type of tube you need; mountain, road, bmx, hybrid, thorn-resist mountain, etc. I personally wouldn't trust buying tubes for my race bicycle, or my XC mountain bike at Walmart; I couldn't take such risks when the rubber hits the road, as it were.
What Uncleneal said , plus, Walmart may have the same name brand, but have purchased their "marginal" (if you will) lots. Those that have barely passed the mfg's specs--usually if they flat (no pun intended) fail the mfg's QC the mfg will re-label them & sell them anyway under a different name.
Also, I would like to point out that buying anything from Walmart supports walmart's irresponsible socio-economic practices that have distroyed so many small towns & local businesses (I saw it 1st hand in a 9 month tour of the mid-west.)
I have used inner tubes from bike shops and Wal-Mart tubes and I can't tell any difference. The price is about the same and the quality is comparable. The ones with slime do work better. I added slime to my road bike tires and haven't had a flat since. I usually go to my local bike shop, but Wal-Mart is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Being able to get tubes at Wal-Mart sometimes makes the difference between riding and calling it off.
the big difference i have found is that walmart carries standard slime and "slime" type tubes. they are the standard to heavy weight tubes. bike shops carry the ultralight slime tubes, which saves you weight, and rolling mass weight doesn't seem like a lot of weight difference but you do feel the difference
