Is it too young for an 11 yr old to work out at a gym with mom?



My son is not overweight at all. I want to teach him though how to build muscle and to eat healthy food for a healthy mind and body.I wonder if 11 is too young to pump iron.Any thoughts. By the way, he is an avid skateboarder and we own a bicycle shop.

I think it would be preferrable to play some other sports (even in the same gym with you), because lifting weights so soon may prevent him to reach his maximum height.

Doing some sports and eating well will not only help him to keep a good health and have a great body as he grows up, but to have a balanced lifestyle far from drugs and bad friendships. And doing it together with you will help to make a stronger bond between the two of you :)
not at all! its a healthy hobby! just like running... cooking, etc.
I don't think so. Talk to a trainer at the gym to find out their policy regarding children on the floor and what sorts of things he shouldn't and should do and what things you can do together. But it's a good time to start.
It should be fine as long as he doesn't over do it, like trying to lift too much weight and hurt himself
you should look into whether that will screw up his growth plates, because, yeah that could stunt his growth.
