How do you use a bicycle puncture kit?

I've got a puncture in my back tire so I bought one from the local bike shop, but its got no instructions so what do i do? It's a little box that contains...
1. A little bottle that says rubber solution
2. A rough, spiked piece of metal probably used
similarly to sandpaper??
3. 5 sealed patches...

Can anyone help?

Go back to the store and get a bike repair kit with sandpaper... the ones with metal scratchers are crap and do not work!

When you have the right kind, Lightly scuff (Don't Sand!) the area around the hole. Apply a thin (Thin! Not Thick!) amount of glue around the hole about the size of the patch you are going to use. Then go get some coffee. Let the glue dry AT LEAST 5 minutes. Pull off the foil side of the patch, discard it, and place the patch on the glue you let dry 5 minutes. Use your fingers and firmly press the patch into the tube. When you are sure the patch has adhered, carefully peel off the see-through plastic. If you did it right the patch with stick to the tube... If not it will peel off. Reinstall everything slowly inflate and you are set!

The key is letting the glue dry... Be patient!

Good Luck!
