How to use a bicycle puncture kit? |
I've got a puncture in my back tire so I bought one from the local bike shop, but its got no instructions so what do i do? It's a little box that contains... 1. A little bottle that says rubber solution 2. A rough, spiked piece of metal probably used similarly to sandpaper?? 3. 5 sealed patches... Can anyone help? 1. It's a good idea to take the wheel off the bike (not essiental) 2. Get that spiked piece of metal and rub it where the hole is to get rid of excess dirt ect. 3. Get the rubber solution (should be like glue) and place a small amount ON the hole. 4. Place the sealed patch over the hole and hold it down so it sets with the glue (rubber solution) 5. Pump up the tire and put it back on. Source(s): myself open the tire, find the hole in the inner tube, dry the area, then use the metal piece and scrape the area of the hole, then put some of the rubber solution around the hole only then take one of the seal patches and put it on the hole and press it for 30 sec. wait a while for it to dry completely then inflate to see if it worked if it did congrats you fixed it if not check where the air leek is and put a bit of the rubber solution wat they sed I would suggest carrying an extra tube for your flats and use the tire repair kit when you run out of tubes. Just remove your wheel and tire off the rim. Pull the tube out and find the pesky hole. Scrape / Scuff up the hole and area around the hole with the metal grater or sandpaper, so the glue and patch will adhere. Add a little glue around hole the same size as the patch and wait a few seconds. Then peel and stick one of the patches, then center and directly cover the pesky hole. Hold for a few seconds, then reinstall your tube and tire. Inflate with a tire pump you should have with you when you ride and off you go! You can also use the peel and stick type patches that do not require glue for temporary fixes. I have even used industrial duct tape in a pinch. It worked and never leaked the whole day! LOL! |
