I am considering a trip to Cairns Australia...? |
and would like some advice on where to stay and what to do and see while I am there. Is there any night-life? Besides aquatic activities are there any other fun things to do like bicycling or hiking? Is it fairly easy to get around without having to rent a car? How is the food and the shopping? Ok, I think I've asked enough. The most comprehensive and detailed response gets my nod for best answer. Thanks! Depends what you are really into .. what age group you are - do you have kids with you etc..... anyhow I live in Cairns .. so here are a couple unique things to do here::: Obviously top of the list is going out on the Great Barrier Reef - but for something different why not do the http://www.scubadoocairns.com or http://www.seawalker.com.au Cable Skiing Water Park is new to Cairns - http://www.cableskicairns.com.au... (right next door to Aboriginal Culture Park and the Skyrail) http://www.paronellapark.com.au... is awesome! Rainforest Daintree Discovery Centre - http://www.daintree-rec.com.au A trip to the Aboriginal Culture Park http://www.tjapukai.com.au and on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. http://www.skyrail.com.au (same car park, right next door to each other) The skyrail takes you up to the rainforest village of Kuranda. http://www.kuranda.org - or take the skyrail up one way and train back down to the city. Kuranda Scenic Railway http://www.ksr.qr.com.au See a croc right on top of the casino in the city - http://www.cairnsdome.com.au Other things to see in Cairns http://www.tropicalaustralia.com.au/thin... http://www.cairnsvisitorcentre.com... Hartley's Creek Crocodile Farm - http://www.crocodileadventures.com... and the Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve - http://www.cairnswildlifesafarireserve.c... Port Douglas is about a 50 min drive from Cairns city 鈥?worth it for the scenery. http://www.portdouglaseguide.com... or http://www.vcentres.com.au/port-douglas... http://www.cairnsattractions.com/index.h... There is plenty of public transport around. The Sun Bus service. Everywhere is generally every 30mins, apart from weekends, every hour. If you require a rental car there is the usual couple booths at the airport, or once right in town you will see them everywhere. I would suggest staying at the Northern Beaches... Trinity beach is great - (20 mins drive from the city) so much accommodation there too. http://www.trinitybeachaccommodation.com... Other is Palm Cove. If you doing major tourist attractions and you book through your accommodation most have services where they pick you up from your place of stay and drop you home again. Have fun on what ever you decide. yes to all a great place to visit lot to do & a lot to see Look up here : http://www.zanzoo.com/house.htm... please try this <a href="http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-1748196-1039... Get your info about Australia at http://www.travelinfocentre.com/destinat... cairns is known for it;s night life actually. there isn't a chance you woudnlt find what to do with yourself. they have parties, bars, chill-out launges.. just have it under consideration that cairns of FULL of young people, mainly bacause of it's reputation of night life. other than that it isn't a big city (well, comparing to australias major...) so everything is pretty close by. if you live in the city of course and not the outskirts. but the real beauty is AROUND cairns, that whole region of queensland where cairns is sitting is called "Tableands". amazing ciuntry side, grassy plains, lakes, waterfalls, rafting, jumping, flying and what-not. probably my favorate area in oz. |
