A bike shop sold me an indoor trainer. When I went to set it up the instructions want me to replace my axle with the skewer provided. The skewer is much smaller than the axle on the bike.
by "smaller" do you mean "not as long" so that it won't reach all the way thru the axle? Or do you mean, it's a skinnier piece of metal?
Either way, no big deal, the reason they tell you to swap the skewer is so your shiny OEM skewer doesn't get all chewed up from the clamps. You can always get a replacement, skewers are cheap and plentiful.
