Giant OCR Alliance 1? |
Another bike question, I just got a call from a cousin that works at a bike shop who heard I was looking for something and that I should come look at theirs. He has a Giant OCR Alliance 1 46.5cm in a mens bike for $1100. Up until now I've been looking at WSD bikes to get under a 50cm frame. Any comments on this bike? Also for the price? Another small question, would it be better to go with the mens fit rather than going to the WSD if I can avoid it? I agree with the 1st answer but the retail is $1400, The 0 model is $2000. So $1100 is a fair price. The bike is good quality and will last forever. You could spend a lot more but I assume you're looking for the best for a grand or so. WSD or not (it's mostly marketing) if it fits it fits. In a given frame size HB, stem, crank arm length are sized accodingly. It's not uncommon to change the seat, stem and pedals to fit your needs even when the bike cost $8000. Most bike shops will trade out a stem or seat of equal value to make the sale. They should want your bike to fit right, after all, you could buy on-line if they aren't willing to service you - that's all they have to offer over on-line purchases. If your cuz works there I'm sure he would insist you do this if you need to. Upgrades may cost you a little. Have 'em through in a bottle and cage for free too! Don't forget all the extras if you don't have em: clipless pedals, shoes, helmet, gloves, shorts, pump... I better stop there! Mens and womens frames are different, but it is what fits you best that matters! I know men who ride women's bikes and women who reids mens bikes, just because of the relatve size of torso to legs. Go see your cousin and try it out. The bike is nice and at a v good price (MSRP $2k) |
