I installed a new fork with a Chris King headset, but the whole thing now makes creaking noises and feels tight. It's not very tight but you can feel the resistance and the noise (very annoying!) I loosened top bolt and a stem in several different ways but nothing changes.
Please don't just tell me to go to bike shop to fix it!
Did you face your steertube? Did you use a headset press? Please tell me you didn't hammer in that headset the idea makes me cringe..sounds like the cups/races aren't flush. With components of that calibre it's a really good idea to use a shop (had to say it) most people don't have a $300 press in their shop at home. For a chris king headset anything other than the proper installation tools is insane.... theres also by the sound of it a minor possibility the steertube is ovalized that headset should be smoother than my gf's ***.

almost 20 years wrenching in shops. Well, if you don't want to take it to a shop be prepared to invest a few hundred dollars in tools to re-face and ream your head tube. If this is a new frame, it wasn't prepped properly at the factory. If it's an old frame, it was damaged when the old headset was removed. Hopefully you didn't trash the cups on the new headset.
