How do I charge my battery on my moped? |
I just bought a moped yesterday. The guy I bought it from told me that the battery was dead because it has been sitting for about 3 months. He said if I rode it for about an hour, it would charge itself. I have ridden it, and still no charge. Its a 150cc gas powered moped. I need the battery so I can start it with the key ando the alarm will work. Right now Im kick starting it and the alarm isnt working. Do I need to plug in the battery some how or jump start it to get it to work? Im goin to take it to a bike shop this week, but I was hoping I could find the answer on here. HELP! you could check the water level (if it has removable caps) & charge it with a trickle charger (2 amps or less) overnight. you can get a trickle charger for less than $20 if you shop around. Did you buy it online? They must be charged because scooter charging systems are not like cars, they only charge enough to keep the battery maintained, plus headlight. It`s also NOT a moped, Moped are 50cc`s and less AND DO NOT EXCEED 30 mph! Please E_mail me, I am a scooter mechanic! mdcbert@yahoo.com http://www.ratbike.org/docs/568.php... If it has pedals, its moped. If it doesn't its a scooter. Scooter alarm systems are notorious for killing the battery. You can go to Walmart and pick up a battery charger. But be careful not to overcharge it. You can also go to your local motorcycle shop and get yourself a Battery Tender Jr. Once the battery is fully charged, it will turn itself off. http://www.batterytender.com/ I wouldn't recommended it, but if you do try to jump start it with a car, make sure the car is off! |
