Need Ideas for a Mom to do with her teenager? |
I have a 13 year old daughter living at home. We live in a small town and have no car......so we are limited as to what we can do and where we can go. I work in a classroom and so I have a lot of free time in the summer. I want to do things with my daughter and am trying to come up with some ideas. I feel a distance between us since she's hit her teens and want to lessen the gap. Below are some activities I've thought of but could use some more suggestions. IDEAS SO FAR: Party in the Park ---(food and music at city park twice a month in the summer) Movie Theatre McDonalds Taking Area Transit to nearby town to go shopping Biking Swimming (public pool) Bowling Putt Putt Golf be wary of suggesting trips to places where she might see her peers. its a touchy age, and she might get upset or embarrassed to be seen out with her mom at the pool or bowling if thats where her friends are hanging out. you might want to also try some things you can do together around the house. show her how to cook some family recipes, rent movies, help her paint her room her favorite color, stuff like that. Taking her into a nearby town to go shopping sounds like a good idea to me. Any teenage girl would love that. Board games and puzzles are a great way to generate conversation. Shopping excursions for a special dinner is a way my wife and daughter enjoy there days in the summer! I say it is not what you do but that you do it with her,try to get into a sport with her that way you have more time spent together and wont need to put a day aside as she will feel you forced to do so. mum tried with me the same didn't work. Give her a big hug and tell her you will always be there for her,take her bowling and mcdonalds,she will still hate you untill shes 19,then she will know how much you care.Its called the lost years but they will respect you later Um, idk about a party in the park, but the movies would be good. Or try having a movie night, or just a day that u relax with each other, thats what my mom and i do, and shopping is would hlep too, along with board games and such |
