Anybody had any experience with a Motobecane Sprint 2007?

I'm hoping to buy the 50cm orange Sprint from BikesDirect.com. Anyone with praise/complaints for the shop or the bike is welcome to reply!

I haven't had any personal experience with motorbecane but my on-line research and reviews I have read suggest that they are of reasonable quality and run a verity of components. A life time frame warranty (but this does not transfer to a second owner and may not be available on line)They also have a dealer network. (this is where I would recommend buying one from.)

There are other brands. This is one of the cheapest.

search for your nearest shop on the site.

Of course, if your the type of person that is going to research how to fit yourself to the bike properly, then you will be buying on-line no matter what anyone says.

Alloy frames are fine for general use. You only need the light expensive stuff if you are racing As a rough guide the percentage of weight saved to total rider and bike weight will be about the percentage of increased in average speed.

i.e. 4lb saved in 209lb (bike and rider) will make less than 2% faster.
I've been riding a Motobecane Mirage for about 2 years now. The drawback is the weight, the aluminum frames are NASTY heavy and the carbon forks don't do much to offset that. I would really suggest getting a bike with a lighter frame, carbon if you're incredibly lucky or even Titanium; anything to make the bike lighter. I am hoping to purchase a new bike this season (triathlete) and I won't be getting another aluminum frame. As little a difference as it seems like it would make, the bike frame weight can have a huge impact on your performance.

Other than the weight the bike has held up well and the components are not that bad. I've changed out my pedals for SPDs, my bars for some carbon with aero clipons and my seat for a Terry. That's all though, the bike isn't worth swapping out too much on because the frame still remains heavy.

Good luck!!!
