I need help with my s&s carburetor.? |
I recently had to get my "sporty" to pass emissions. I have an s&s carb so the carb had to be re-adjusted to get it to pass. Anyone living in AZ. will know what I am talking about. To make a long story short, after I got the bike back from the shop, I rode it back home. I was on the freeway going a high rate of speed. I made it home but was going at a low rate of speed and the bike died. I took the bike back into the shop and they put a new needle in it. I rode the bike to work yesterday and it was fine. I rode it on the freeway in stop and go traffic, no problems. This morning I went to ride to work and the bike died on me again while coming to a stop. Needless to say I didn't ride the bike to work. Does anyone have any ideas if its just a simple matter of readjusting the jetting or could it be a larger problem with the carb? I would like to believe its just the jetting because the bike was fine until I took it to the shop so they could get it to pass emissions. OK bud, my shovel did this to me a few years ago, turns out it was just adjustment, that's it. It drove me crazy for 2 months. Honestly sounds like trash in the Carb. Did they or you run it into the fuel reserve? If the bike runs at high speed, stalls at low, the needle gets replaced (and ergo gets cleaned out), then runs, then stops it sure sounds like dirt in the fuel system. The first thing I would do is ask the shop what changes they made and then do my best to reverse those changes. Next I would check the color of the spark plugs to determine if it's rich or ( presumably lean ) and make the necessary adjustments, be that jets, needle or simply fuel/air ratio adjustments. You can ,I'm sure imagine it's difficult to advise you without being able to see the bike. I'd be back at the shop , they tweaked it, certainly they can un-tweak it. I've never been a fan of the S&S, but I do know that adjustments must be made in tiny increments. |
