My son has a gas powered scooter and the back wheel is wobbly, and the chain keeps falling off. HELP!? |
This was bought on line as a xmas gift and of course I cannot get anywhere with the customer service dept. I paid $300 for this gas powered scooter and he rode it once. Needless to say I have one disappointed 11 year old, and have called countless bike/motorcycle/small engine repair shops, and nobody can help me. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks so much. Unfortunately, nobody will help you. The thing is, it is all about being an 11 year old boy. Hopefully you make him wear a helmet. My guess (and this is no reflection on you or your son) is this is a case of "JRA". JRA is short for "just riding along", which is how your son probably explained the damage. The real probability is that he tried to stunt or jump the scooter and he messed the wheel up beyond repair. The cost of the repair will probably exceed the cost of the scooter. On top of that, most repair shops that might repair it know that the same thing would happen again and you would blame them on a sloppy job... this is why the shops won't touch it. So, your only real option is to purchase a new wheel from the manufacturer of the scooter which you should find in the owners manual. If there is no owners manual then ask for the contact info at the place of purchase. Don't try to pass this off as a warranty issue or you won't get anywhere. Source(s): 27 years in the industry and have seen THOUSANDS of JRAs Sounds like it needs new bearings, or to be tightened. I'd suggest asking in the right catagory. This is for bicycles. "cars and transportation / motorcyles." it might be a bearing problem or a loose chain or loose bolts |
