I have a 2000 Ducati that hasn't been moved (or registered or insured) for three years. I need to sell it, but I'd like to take it to the shop to have it looked at first. Is there any official way that I can get a a temporary registration and/or insurance to take it to the shop and back? What penalty would I get if I just drove it with old registration?
The bike was registered in Massachusetts, I live in New York, and the bike is currently in Connecticut.
If you currently have vehicle insurance with an insurance company, they will undoubtedly be happy to provide you with a temporary "binder" (usually 24 - 48 hours) on the motorcycle. Most motor vehicle departments (or Secretary of State offices) will also issue a temporary permit. hay, trailer it or truck it save yourself the headache:)
