AnySuggestionsOnLoweringA 78HondaCB750K ? I CanTouchSomewhat,withTheS...

I am a retired mechanic 62 yrs old and have had several bikes, none recently. I bought this bike which needed repair and have fixed several problems and when I took it off the center stand and was ready to try it out I can barely touch my toes. I have been told that aftermarket brackets to move the rear shocks lower mounts to the rear used to be available . Also the earlier year models had shorter forks I've been told but can't confirm . Maybe a custom seat or
a revision of my seat foam and new upholstery. This is a nice bike and the parts are worth more than I paid for the bike but I don't want to part it out. I may have to try to sell it to a taller person and forget about lowering it.I'm
sure that somebody has accomplished this change .I was also told that I could put smaller wheels etc ,but it really has good tires etc,and I don't want to spend a lot of money. I have welding equipment and a machine shop nearby .

A great old classic. Bulletproof engine.

Trying to find a lower seat should be your first attempt at a lower seating position. I don't think you will be able to alter that OEM seat much.

Lowering blocks for the rear shocks aren't considered optimum, but I've seen them work.
Maybe you could salvage some shorter shocks

You MAY be able to slip the fork tube up through the top bridge, a little (and I mean a little). This can change your steering geometry, but I know folks who have done it with large Honda cruisers.

Good luck with your project.
No idea.
an old trick that shorter motocrossers use involves removing the seat cover and shaving the seat foam with an electric carving knife then recovering the seat usually with your original cover with slight modification. good luck
I had the same problem with my '80 Suzuki GS-1000. I found an aftermarket seat that was comfortable and lowered it a couple inches. My brother had a '79 Honda CB750K anniversary edition. He solved the problem by making brackets to move the bottom of the shocks to the rear a few inches. THis lowered the bike but it made it ride a bit stiffer due to the change in the angle of the shocks relative to the motion of the rear wheel.

I also know a buy who made riding boots by adding height to the soles of his boots! Got him a couple extra inches of height that way!

Good Luck with it! We will never know why the Japs thought that all Americans were 6'3" or taller!
The easiest and first thing to do is to shave some of the seat foam as another answer suggests (something i've done myself), but try sitting on it with the seat off first , cause if THAT won't feel better then theres no point even doing the seat. Keep the bike though man! , you're a mechanic - i'm sure you'll figure something out.
