Can't get rear wheel to come off....? |
I just purchased this http://www.performancebike.com/shop/prof... trainer and am trying to get the rear wheel off my bike. I have this one http://www.diamondback.com/items.asp?dep... and the instructions don't help one bit. I know to pull the two clamps at the top apart, but I'm stuck after that. Any help? OK I'm not sure what your trying to accomplish by taking the wheel off the bike but here goes while pedalling the bike put it in the smallest cog on the rear (this will make it easier to remove and replace the wheel) then while holding the bike up give the wheel a sharp shot on the top of the wheel with your fist it will easily pop out . If its the trainer your trying to figure out it should work with the skewers on your bike if not one should be provided in which case its not necessary to remove the wheel from the bike ,flip the quick release undo the nut on the other side (all the way off) slide the stock skewer out slide the new one in and your in business. Source(s): hope this helped i would try some wd40 Try this works for me. With one good flat hand and a fast blow to the tire it knocks free from the rim( The shock from the hit moves the rim down). Make sure it's loose from the quick releases and the brakes released before doing this. This trick I learned from being Sag driver for 3 years with the Cleveland Touring Club because I changed a lot of tubes and tires on the road. You have no reason to take your rear wheel off for this trainer. The trainer supports the bike by holding the rear axle while the wheel is still on it. As others have said, you do not need to remove your back wheel to use this trainer. However, it is good to know how to remove your back wheel. Here are instructions from http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto... (The actual site has pictures that might be helpful.) Rear wheels: Shift derailleur to outermost gear (smallest cog) and innermost front chain ring. Release brake quick-release, if any. Release wheel quick-release by pulling quick release lever outward. Pull outward on end of quick release skewer lever. If necessary, loosen quick release adjusting nut to clear any tabs at end of fork. For wheels with axle nuts, loosen both nuts outside of dropouts. For rear wheels, pull back on rear derailleur to allow cogs to clear chain. Lower wheel, guiding the wheel down through brake pads and forward to clear chain and derailleur. Guide the wheel through the brake pads and out the fork ends. http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto... |
