Hi. I'm coming to Denver this weekend for 3 days and know literally nothing about where to go.?

I wondered where are some fun areas/neighborhoods in the city that are worth checking out. I wondered if there are a concentraiton of brewerys/ fun restaurants in a certain area, reccomended bike trails to bike in the city with bike rental, possibly a place to kayak in the city, and any areas for ecclectic shopping or people watching. Also if anyone knows of any moderatley priced hotels that are in a unique and in a fun neighborhood that'd be great too! On the Denver website the LoDo was reccommended. What's that neighborhood like? Thanks so much. This really helps me out!

All I can say is LoDo, LoDo, LoDo!

the Lower downtown area is where you need to be. Restaurants, shops, baseball stadium, breweries...it's got it all.
I'd spend most of my time in the mountains. Denver is just a city, the Colorado mountains are spectacular. Estes Park is close, gorgeous, and, because of all that, is crowded. The Dillon/Breckenridge area is just as close, very nice, and this time of year, not as crowded. I'm pretty sure a bike trail goes all the way between them (although fairly near a road) and there must be bike rentals in both. But it's at 8000 feet, and you'll want to be careful about exerting yourself if you're coming from sea level.

LoDo is the hot spot in Denver, Restaurants, shops, night life; and parks and bike trails along the South Platte River are close. REI has a place to kayak outside it, and I would think rents kayaks, maybe bicycles. No hotels right in LoDo, and what's walking distance away isn't cheap.

Cherry Creek is high end shopping, with some outdoor cafes for people watching.

This is 1-2 miles away from LoDo.

and this is an inexpensive place in Dillon:

If you are only in town for three days-
First day~ LODO (Lower Down Town Denver) you will find a concentraiton of brewerys/ fun restaurants. It is in my opinion the best part of Denver.
Second Day~ Take a drive to Boulder (or Jump on RTD) it takes about 45min to get there... this is where you will find bike trails to bike with bike rental, possibly a place to kayak, and any areas for ecclectic shopping or people watching (U HAVE to go to Pearl Street!!).
If you want to go IN Denver and not the surrounding towns and areas, I would suggest the 16th street mall. It's a great place for brewerys/fun restaurants, people watching, Sometimes you will find street performers there. I can't help you with the bike trails. Kayaking? I don't think so! If you're wanting to travel a bit, head up to the Pearl Street Mall. You'll find your ecclectic shops there, street performers, great place to people watch. It's located in Boulder. Look it up on the web to get directions please. If you ask me, you'll certainly get lost. If you want great great views and are into hiking, I would suggest that you head about 2 hours south and go to Colorado Springs to Garden of The Gods. You'll see rock climbers do their thing while you hike. Wow! There's loads to do in this part of Colorado! Hope this helps. Kayaking? You might want to look up Poudre Canyon just outside of Fort Carson. Your breath will be taken away when you see this amazing canyon. Would suggest that you get out of the canyon before dark because deer tend to think they own the road as nightfall approaches and driving can be hazardous due to that. Saw a one-eyed mountain goat after camping in the canyon one morning. I hope this helps.
I use to work as a directory assistance operator (411). I'll get to the point :

North of a store called REI on Platte St. is a business which rents bikes and kayaks.

Biking & Kayaking:
Nearby, the Platte River offers rapids for your kayaking and bike trails.

Nearby hotels:
Ramada Inn, Hampton Inn, and the Knights Inn (moderately priced and in the Highlands Neighborhood).

Fun Neighborhoods:
Highlands, Lower Downtown, Cherry Creek, Washington Park (pearl street), and Morrison.

Eclectic Shopping:
Lower Downtown (LODO) & Cherry Creek north neighborhood (safer)

People Watching:
16th Street Mall (hoodlums, hotties, and tourists) Ha Ha Ha!
Lower Downtown (LODO)

Restaurants:
Buffalo Exchange, Buca Di Peppo, Sushi Den (all in/around dwntwn)

Hope you enjoy your visit.

Caution: several denver natives stop at yield signs when entering freeways, instead of entering at the speed of traffic. So look out.
