Horse Ride-A-Thon??? Please answer...? |
From November 2-4, I will be going to the 26th annual Horse Back Ride A Thon at Myrtle Beach. The Horse Ride A Thon is a 20 mile trail ride down the beach, organized to raise money for the American Heart Association. The goal of the ride is not only to have fun (though it will be fun), but to raise awareness of heart diseases. Anyways. I'll be going with my best friend. Keep the following in mind. The trip takes place in early November at the beach. Its in the Carolinas. We will be riding 20 miles. We will shop, prob go out to eat, take trail rides (duh), and ride our bikes. Knowing all of this, what should I take with me? I know I will need to bring my riding jeans and some money, but what else? Is there anything specifically I will need to bring? Has anybody else ever been to a Ride A Thon? If so, what did you pack? (Any long trail ride will work.) I really need to know, any answers appreciated! And yes, it is an overnight thing. Ok that helps more then, I wasn't sure if this was a 'pack out' on horseback or not. For riding, lots of water for you, snacks, jacket or raincoat, hat, bailing twine, fly spray (not sure about your area that time of year). For the rest, I would pack just like a vacation since it can stay at the motel. Have a great time! Snacks (protein bars, m and m's etc.), drinks, a jacket, good boots and maybe sunglasses (not for the sun but sometimes the wind is so strong on the beach, you can't see anything), cell phone (in case of emergency), helmet, or at least a hat, and i think that's about it! Other stuff, well, just pack like your going on vacation. Pliers, hoof pick, chap stick, granola bars, trail mix or some thing like that ,these all on your saddle. I like the reins that have a clip on one side . Just a few things I have learned from experience. I have done a few endurance rides. |
