What I think I know July 13,2006 typhoon florita caused calamty of entire city.95,000 people live there, pagudpud beaches,Laoag greenest and cleanest city,marcos family had summer home in malacanang of the north,most get around with bike.Lantern Parade is at christmas and that they are building new 50 room hotel,gas station,shopping mall,state of the art cinema and supermarket.
philippines is known for cheap commodities and services,so if your going to laoag,expect cheaper since it is a province located on the northern part of the island.if your going to rent a house,the price depends how big u need and the location.if in the city proper,u can find a whole house for rent for PHP4,000-8,000.complete with amenities.if u want apartment,its just a bit lower or more expensive depending on the place.i dont think theres any condo available in that area.as for parks,we do have a lot.theres the park infront of laoag capitol,and outside laoag,the paoay church park, and all of the municipalities surrounding the ilocos norte got their own park that they are proud of.laoag also has fort ilocandia resort and hotel with golf range and near the suba beach.they dont have any cabs yet even laoag is a city.whats available is tricycle,jeepney and calesa,a horse driven carriage.ive been to laoag last aug 28,2006 and so far the place is still good.we are proud of our pagudpud white beaches,clean and free from any pollution.the last time i heard is that they are building SM department store in san.nicolas,neighboring town of laoag and the construction is ongoing.the fiesta season of laoag city is on the month of february.if your thinking of visiting laoag,dont hesitate to come.you'll surely enjoy the place.try to read more on the history of laoag and the whole ilocos norte at the wikipedia.com.
