YAMAHA R6 2006!! Assemble new clutch? |
Looking to see if anyone can give me some assembly directions to replace a clutch on my 2006 Yamaha R6, I know where it is , jus don't have the money to bring it in the shop or buy the book. KNow how to fix on cars, just new to fixing on bikes. It's a no brain-er. Drain the oil. Remove the side cover. Remove the 6 bolts and springs. Remove the clutch plates (metal and fiber). Take note as to the order every plate comes out. There are different sizes and the metal plates have a sharp edge and a rounded edge. Soak the fiber plates in new oil (you want them to be saturated with oil), same stuff you'll be using in the crankcase. Do Not Over Tighten the Clutch Bolts. Aluminum strips easily and the springs act as lock washers (don't use locktite). When installing the side cover, position the clutch push lever so it's in the correct position to reach the clutch cable. Clean the gasket surfaces on the cover & engine until they look brand new. Pictures: http://www.mrcycles.com/ similar to fixing it on a car. just more screws and more pads. you have 6 pads on a motorcycle where a car has one big one. google search yamaha of troy or your favorite bike shop and look up the clutch in the O.E.M. parts finder. this will give you an exploded view of the assembly. when you replace the disks, remember to use engine oil on each fiber disk. keep in mind that there can be different sizes in thicknes to both driven and drive plates. when to pick up the parts from the dealer. ask the parts people for the extra info.
