Do I overdo my chihuahuas exercise??

I have 1yr old chihuahua boy. Recently I bought him a basket for my bicycle and we go for rides. He loves it. I take him out and let him run alongside of me part of our outing. I don't go fast but I do let him go for a while.
do I overdo that?? He has problems with the reverse sneezing and recently I had to take him to the vets because he had few episodes in just one hr. I'm worried about the collapsed trachea but the doc said he would have more severe symptoms.. any idea?

Yes, you probably are overdoing it. And this is dangerous to do with a little dog - what if your bike tips over on him? You'd get more answers on this in the pet section, maybe try reposting it there.

You should NEVER let your chihuahua run beside you when you are riding your bike. The dog does need exercise, but he's running far too hard, far too fast, and probably too long a distance. Carry your dog in the basket, and BE SURE that there is a SOLID (plexiglass) wall between him and the wind. When you are at the park, walk your bike and let your dog run along beside you. I used to love to go on very long hikes, and my Pekinese couldn't do all that walking, so we got her a little 'doggy pack' so she could ride on a human back, and made a special 'doggy pack' with our picnic on the other side, so she could ride on our German Shepherd's back. If you love your dog you need to treat him properly. Chihuahuas are not just 'small dogs' but have very senistive tracheas and lungs, and that 'running' beside your bike can KILL him very suddenly ... so carry the dog on the bike, but walk the bike when you are 'exercising' your little boy!
