Do I overdo my chihuahuas excercise?

I have 1yr old chihuahua boy. Recently I bought him a basket for my bicycle and we go for rides. He loves it. I take him out and let him run alongside of me part of our outing. I don't go fast but I do let him go for a while.
do I overdo that?? He has problems with the reverse sneezing and recently I had to take him to the vets because he had few episodes in just one hr. I'm worried about the collapsed trachea but the doc said he would have more severe symptoms.. any idea?

He finished his vaccs few months back, so I don't think it would be reaction to that. I give him meds for heart worms as the area we live in is heaven for heart worms, so I'm taking care of that. Thanks ya all :o)

Weak or collapsed tracheas are common in chihuahuas, and they don't necessarily have to have symptoms all the time to suffer from this. Being overweight contributes to this condition, so exercise is a very good idea (as it is for all dogs). Take a small bowl and fresh or bottled water with you, and basically let him be your guide. If he's panting, it may be a bit too much and you'll want to let him rest or ride in the basket for a while. Chi's don't require a lot of exercise in comparison to other breeds (although they do love it!), and even though you may not feel like you're going fast, he's a tiny little guy and it may feel very fast to him. Work slowly up to his tolerance level -- shorter but more frequent outings.

well i have a chihuahua and she's very young but think about it it's a 1yr old pup(!) and he probably just needs breaks every so often so does mine. You should bring him; water, leash, and give him breaks. I heard that pups can also sneeze be-cuz they may have heartworms u better check that out b4....x( that's how my Shiloh (RIP) died. Yeah, I think you may be. If you like the distance you go when you exercise him, let him ride in the basket more often and when he runs alongside you, stop for breaks and bring water.
