I know going to church/garage doesn't make you a Christian/car, but why would you go if you're not?

I mean, I prefer to sleep in my bedroom. I don't have a garage, but if I did, it would be used to store a growing collection of bicycle parts.

Free food.

And chicks.

Some people like to expand their minds and explore other options.

There was once this super hot preachers daughter. And she was really educating me on temptation and sin.

I hated church but she was very cute, and Hmm - talented.

There is no one true answer to this. Some take comfort in the familiarity of it or the traditions various churches use, some feel safe and comfortable there, some do it out of habit, others to expand their mind and/or religious studies, some because of familial pressure, and then there are other more shallow reasons. There are for more reasons to go to church when you aren't a Christian than if you are.

I have a refrigerator full of beer out in the garage. My car doesn't drink beer. Feel free to stop in anytime.

People use church as a country club....it gives those without many other interests something to do.

In addition, it gives them a place where they can feel accepted. As Ted Turner said, many Christians are losers in life, have accomplished little, and are made fun of in the real world....they go to church where they have to be accepted....where they can believe in a God that is bigger than everyone, and a Father that has streets paved with pure gold....all of this, in an effort so they can finally feel superior to someone else in the world.....it also gives them a place, where they can band together with people of like weak minds...and where they then are able to point their fingers at others.

However, the real purpose of church is a "storehouse" a place where people bring their talents, time, energy and love...and the church, can help distribute this "pool of gifts" to the world at large, to make the world a better place. Feed the hungry, give to the poor, orphans and widows....and the church should encourage you to do these things.....that is the purpose of church as defined in the Bible,

However, churches have lost their ways, and now they are no more than country clubs, where people become political....they build their compounds in the suburbs, and only invite in people like them, and chastise the rest of the world.

I think the point is that thousands of people go to church and think they are a christian, but are not...they haven't given their lifes over to Jesus and accepted Him as their personal savior... they still believe that being a good person, and going to church will get you to heaven, and it won't...Wide is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the gate that leads to Heaven...few will find it..

But of the flipside, you can be a christian and not go to church also..because it's not a religion it's a relationship with Jesus.. (But you should)

because many people think thatgoing to a church/gym will save you from your sin/unhealthy lifestyle.
only a change of will and direction will do that.
That would be by turning and following Christ/healthy lifestyle and going to church/gym to grow in that direction.

PS...cars and people cannot be compared since cars are not alive and do not have a conscious will

At the last church I attended, (bible believing, evangelical) of those I could ask (it was a touchy subject):
I discovered about a third did not believe but spoke and acted as though they did in order to maintain what it was they really valued:
the community, the friendships and fellowship, the sense of belonging.

I understand that, but it wasn't something I could do, so when I became an atheist I left.
(In your terms not belonging in even a superb garage if I wasn't a car.)

One who is NOT a Christian, and goes to church, is more than likely SEEKING God. What better place?!

However, the KIND of church one goes seeking in today, is MORE important! There are too many churches where you will get NOTHING out of it. No chance of coming to know Jesus as Savior. Nothing but feel good , flowery promises that will lead you straight to HELL.

You go because it is God's House. Not because it is the House of Christians. That is one good thing to keep in mind.

Also, when you go, you go to see Him. We become like what we behold. That is a spiritual law. And if you go with all your heart looking for Him, you will find Him there. He has promised that in His Word. And that is what we want, because as a Bible writer prays, "Turn Thy face to us, and we shall be saved". If we can just see Him, the joy and love in His eyes that He feels for us, the longing and the tears He feels and cries for us, the compassion, beauty and power of the Lord... I will tell you from experience, He will change you so that you will never be the same again. And that is what He wants to for us all, not once, but every time we go to His house.

And He wants us to share what we have experienced of Him, He wants us to testify and point His other children to Him, that their faith would be built up.

well if you were thinking of upgrading from a bike to a car mabe yous spend time in a garage with other cars so you could see what the life of a car is about and if you'd rather stay a bike or try becoming a boat instead you know as a bike you get better Gas milage so why become a car when it cost more you mite think but until you try it than how will you ever know when nothing is irreversible you can still go hang out in a dock if this doesn't work for you I'm a car and i can tell you its a good life and id love if you would become one to and visit my garage/church

There's nothing wrong with going to church to absorb some information. It is written in the bible that the only way to understand God's word is to search for understanding.
